2023 - Miss Mrs Africa UK/IE

2023 Contestants

2023 Winner - Dr. Heerani Woodun - Mauritius

NAME: Dr Heerani Woodun

COUNTRY: Mauritius

NICKNAME: DiamondQueen

WHO AM I:

Hi everyone, I am Dr Heerani, based in Nottinghamshire and originally from paradise Mauritius; I am bilingual in French and English with Mauritian Creole as mothertongue. I believe in hard work, resilience and perseverance whether it is in my educational, medical, arts-performing field and personal life, which is why I joined this pageant in my stand for women empowerment and against colourism. I believe the struggle of women is real – in the workplace, in the community, affecting women’s confidence and opportunities. Colourism is my personal battle and being of a darker skin tone had and still has its impact on how some societies would view me. Being passionate in what I do keeps up the drive of not giving up and upholds my reliability as a do-er! I advocate for change through leadership roles: currently as AWEF charity Ambassador, I have also been Equalities and Diversity Officer and Junior Doctors Conference Agenda Organising Committee in the BMA (British Medical Association). Professionally, I am a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (London) and member of Women in Surgery. I am described as a holistic empathetic doctor who builds great rapport with patients, taking time to listen, explaining and aiming to deliver an effective outcome. Colleagues and friends commend my compassionate nature as a team player. I also enjoy dancing, organising cultural shows and my pet rabbits (see hobbies). The pillar of my achievements is my loved ones with values of respect and love. I want to earn This Crown to strongly endorse women empowerment via inspirational talks and projects to instil, increase confidence and improve mental health in all generations, via fundraising for the greater community, providing health education and creating the big noise that African Women are hardworking, intelligent and beautiful with the utmost ability of achieving success like anyone else! Let’s make race a reality- Vote for me!
